Potency and water volume
In autopathy the potency is the volume of water poured through the bottle. This page converts between litres, homeopathic C and M figures and minutes under a filter, and sets out the rules for choosing and stepping the volume.
The conversion
Two figures make every conversion:
- 1 litre through the bottle gives 40 C. Printed on every instruction leaflet. (Saliva leaflet)
- The bottle passes about 2 litres a minute with the funnel kept full, so one minute is about 80 C. (Boiled saliva and breath, 2022)
So C = 40 × litres, and M (1,000 C) = litres ÷ 25. The founder’s own figures agree: 6 l is “240 C”, 25 l is “1 M”, 200 l is “approx. 8.5 M” (strictly 8 M), 250 l “corresponds with the homeopathic potency 10 M”, and a CM would need “about 21 hours of flow, with a volume of 2500 l”.
Converter
6 l is 240 C, about 3 minutes under a filter.
The converter needs JavaScript; the table below gives the same figures.
Potency as depth of penetration
In the method’s framework, a higher potency reaches deeper through the four members of the human being, as in classical homeopathy:
| Range | Reaches | Typical purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Low, 1 to 6 l (40 to 240 C) | Physical and etheric | Dense clearing, acute organ stimulation |
| Medium, 9 to 25 l (360 C to 1 M) | The deeper cellular matrix | Chronic and miasmatic clearing |
| High, 30 to 100 l and above | Astral and the spiritual organisation | Constitutional and karmic stabilisation |
These bands are a teaching aid, not a measurement; the stepping rules below decide what you actually do.
Table of common volumes
| Litres | Potency | Minutes at 2 l a minute | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 | 20 C | 0.25 | Very weak vitality (Prana VI); first step of the 2010 cleansing schedule |
| 1 | 40 C | 0.5 | Minimum on every leaflet; low vitality; daily use in serious illness |
| 1.5 | 60 C | 0.75 | One bottle of spring water; low vitality start; the usual step size |
| 3 | 120 C | 1.5 | Middle vitality start |
| 4.5 | 180 C | 2.25 | Common second step |
| 6 | 240 C | 3 | Strong vitality start; acute illness single dose |
| 7.5 | 300 C | 3.75 | |
| 9 | 360 C | 4.5 | Upper end of “low potencies” |
| 12 | 480 C | 6 | Typical first unboiled breath dose after boiled ones |
| 15 | 600 C | 7.5 | Start of “high potencies” in the founder’s usage |
| 25 | 1 M | 12.5 | 2012 ceiling for boiled preparations |
| 30 | 1.2 M | 15 | Usual switch point from boiled to unboiled breath |
| 45 | 1.8 M | 22.5 | |
| 60 | 2.4 M | 30 | Highest prana volumes reported (about 60 l) |
| 100 | 4 M | 50 | |
| 200 | 8 M | 100 | Long-running unboiled saliva and breath cases |
| 250 | 10 M | 125 | “Not a limit” for unboiled breath or saliva |
| 2,500 | 100 M (CM) | 1,250 | Theoretical; would take about 21 hours |
Choosing the starting volume
Start by vitality, the method’s estimate of the person’s strength:
| Vitality | Starting volume | Who |
|---|---|---|
| Very weak | 0.5 to 1 l | Serious organ disease, severe depression or psychosis, frail old age |
| Low | 1 to 1.5 l | “Persons with diseased life-important inner organs such as liver, heart” |
| Middle | 3 l | Most chronic cases |
| Strong | 6 l | “Persons who have only surface disorders of the type eczema, pains in the joints” |

For acute illness the founder’s 2011 figures: 6 l, a single dose; 3 l repeated every 2 hours for people over 50 or with serious internal disease. Autopathy and flu
Stepping the volume
| Range | Usual step | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Below 9 l | 1.5 l each time | Step by step |
| Regular dosing, no response | 1.5 to 3 l each time | Methods and strategies |
| An exhausted potency | At least 1.5 l, or double | Methods and strategies |
| Unboiled breath, ongoing | 4 to 6 l (2 to 3 minutes under the filter) | Methods and strategies |
| Above 30 l | At least 10 l (5 minutes) | High potencies |
| Sensitive people | As little as 0.5 l | Observation period |
| Prana VI | 1 l | Prana VI |
A doubling rule (2, 4, 7.5, 60, 120, 200 l) appears in one consultant’s case from 2009. The founder later wrote that he did not remember whether he had based that advice “rather on a theoretical consideration”. High potencies
Four rules about potency
- When a working volume loses its effect, go up. “When a functioning potency… loses or shortens its effect, we increase the dilution. And that regardless of any imaginary limit in the amount of water.”
- Never go down for a small complaint. “We repeat the same as before and when it ceases to be effective, we increase.” The exception: a step up that gave a worse or more complicated reaction than the one before, which means going back to the earlier level.
- Do not rush it. The most common self-treatment mistake the founder sees in 2026 is “hastily increasing the potency after just the first few days”, which overshoots the level “at which the preparation no longer resonates”. See observation periods.
- A too-high potency is not dangerous, just less useful. “When the potency was really much too high… the effect was simply shorter and not so deep.” He reports never having seen “a significant worsening brought about by high potencies over 1 M”.

Ceilings by method
| Method | Reported range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Boiled saliva, boiled breath | 1 to about 25 l usually; to 100 l in rare cases | “In case of potencies of more than 25 l we generally no longer heat up” |
| Boiled saliva and breath | Up to 15 l usually; 30 to 60 l since 2022 | |
| Prana (P1 to P5) | 1.5 to about 60 l | “Individually they can also be higher” |
| Prana VI | 0.5 to 6 l reported | Experimental |
| Unboiled breath or saliva | 1 to 250 l and more | “Without a potency limit”; one report of 340 l (170 minutes) |
